Rare and beautiful long teak sideboard produced in the UK in the late 60s by White and Newton of Portsmouth, company renowned for the quality of their furniture and outstanding modern design. The model is called ‘Petersfield’ and has lately become highly sought after due to its classic Minimalist Mid Century look. Minimal lines with hidden recessed finger handles highlighted in a darker teak tone and a wonderful design to the top surface where the timber curves over the front and is swept up towards the back. The outstanding attention to the details definitely sets this piece apart from many of its contemporaries. The result is an incredibly well constructed and heavy piece of furniture made using a combination of solid timber and Teak veneers. The veneers on the cupboard doors and drawer fronts are continuous (again another remarkable detail only present in the high end (and Danish) furniture. The storage comprises of three generously sized drawers (the top one divided lined in a orange Vinyl originally for cutlery) and two different sized cupboards on each side. On the right hand side there is a lengthy cupboard space behind the double doors with a long fixed shelf. The left hand side has a drop-down drinks compartment, with a small fixed shelf to store glasses, and an unusual and smart sliding/detachable drinks tray in orange Formica. The overall condition of this piece is near mint with only a few very minor signs of ware that we’ve tried to show on photos. To mention only a small bit of wood missing from the top drawer edge, some minor imperfections on the left side edge and a very faint mark on the top (all in photos). We believe it has the original finish. The insides are very clean and tidy and the whole piece is just ready for immediate use.
