This fantastic hanging lampshade is a rare edition, produced by Rotaflex / Heifetz in the 1950s. Made of a cellulose acetate (plastic) sprinkled by hundreds of tiny plastic cubes with a very unusual and dramatic effect when illuminated. Rotaflex maker mark on the bulb holder. Rotaflex was a british lighting company who manufactured, in particular, John & Sylvia Reid’s designs. Rotaflex was started by Bernard Stern around 1953 and also produced spun acetate lamps, sometime after the mid 50’s John & Sylvia Reid were employed and added new designs as some of the earlier designs became dated and were phased out. Rotaflex lightening was distributed overseas mainly around Europe and US. Overall this shade will certainly be an amazing addition to any Mid Century inspired room. Please note: ceiling attachment/wiring not included.
